Classic Creamy Tiramisu

Tiramisu is an Italian, layered dessert with mascarpone cheese, heavy cream and coffee-soaked ladyfingers. It has an amazing coffee flavor.

Ingredients
  

Cream Layer Ingredients

  • 5 large egg yolks (room temperature)
  • ½ cup sugar +2 tablespoons
  • cups heavy cream
  • 16 ounces mascarpone (room temperature)

Ladyfinger Layer Ingredients

  • 2 packages ladyfingers (each package 7 ounces)
  • 2 cups espresso (strong coffee)
  • tablespoons vanilla extract

Instructions
 

Cream Layer Preparation

  • Add the room temperature egg yolks to a large and heat-resistant bowl.
  • Add the sugar but leave 2 tablespoons aside.
  • Add in ½ teaspoon vanilla extract and whisk the ingredients for 3 minutes or until the mixture becomes fluffy.
  • Add a pot to the stove with hot water on low heat. You want the mixture to be simmering.
  • Put the bowl of egg and sugar mixture right on top, but don't let the bowl touch the water.
  • Whisk continuously for a few minutes until light in color. You should be able to dip your finger in and barely feel any sugar granules.
  • Remove and set aside. Fold in the room temperature mascarpone cheese.
  • Get a large bowl and beat the heavy cream, remaining vanilla and sugar for 5 minutes on high speed until it becomes thick and fluffy.
  • Fold in the mixture in 3 batches with the mascarpone egg mix.

Ladyfingers Layer Preparation

  • Dip the ladyfingers one at a time in the coffee.
  • Layer them flat in the bottom of a 9x13 dish or divide them into two 9x9 square pans.
  • Once one layer is done, add the cream layer and repeat to make 2 layers of cream and 2 layers of ladyfingers. The last layer should be made of cream.
  • Refrigerate for 6-8 hours, preferably overnight.
  • Dust the top with cocoa powder before serving.

Notes

  • Keep the Eggs in a room temperature before using them.
  • Keep the mascarpone cheese in a room temperature before using it.
  • Don't throw the egg whites to be used in other recipes.
  • Get the main products fresh to get the best results.
